WHO IS OUR SHAYKH IN THE TIJANI TARIQAH?

As-Salam Alaykum,

I am often asked WHO exactly is our Shaykh in the Tijani Tariqah?

The answer to this is:

Our Shaykh in this Tariqah is Sayyidna Rasul-Allah (SAW). And his deputy in spiritually training us is Shaykh Ahmad Tijani (RA).

Every Tijani must know this and be assured of this 100% or he is not a Tijani.

That is why we do not turn to anyone for spiritual assistance but the two of them: the Seal of the Prophets (SAW) and the Seal of the Saints (RA).

However this is all in the Unseen (Bātin) world, which is absolutely real.

In the Seen (Zāhir) world however, we usually have two leaders as well:

Firstly, the muqaddam who gave us the Wird. And secondly, his living Shaykh, who is a complete Khalifah of Shaykh Ahmad Tijani (RA).

The muqaddam is only an initiator, and different muqaddams hold different spiritual levels.

But his living Shaykh is a Complete Wali and Khalifah of Shaykh Ahmad Tijani (RA) and holder of his secrets. These living Khalifahs of Shaykh Ahmad Tijani (RA) are many in every age. And they have Muqaddams everywhere.

Every Tijani must understand this hierarchy and respect it.

Or else they don't understand their Tariqah and how it functions.

*In this way:*

- Rasul-Allah (SAW)

- Shaykh Ahmad Tijani (RA)

*Represented by:*

- The living Shaykh

- The Muqaddam

Note also, that the job of the Muqaddam and the living Shaykh is only to connect you spiritually with Shaykh Ahmad Tijani (RA) and Rasul-Allah (SAW) until there is no veil between you and them and you are fully annihilated in them and have no Shaykh but them. Till then, you are veiled from the reality of being a Tijani.

BRIEF HIS OF SHEIKH GIBRIMA ZULMA'ARIF

SHEIKH MUHAMMAD GIBRIMA (ZULMA'ARIF). Shaykh Gibrima was a Tijani Sufi Veteran. He transcended to his greatest spiritual pedestal, with the hur'mat (sanctity) of Salat al Fat'hi which he sent upon the ruuh of the Prophet. Dan Nguru (Son/Native of Nguru), Sheikh Gibrima was referred to as Sahib al~Faatihi (Master of 'Salat' al~Faati'h). He was one of the Tijani bigwigs that pledged allegiance to Sheikh Ibrahim Niass, and attested to his Gawthiyya Pedestal and Faydah Grace. SHAYKH IBRAHIM'S POEM ON SHEHU GIBRIMA He was referred to by Shaykh Ibrahim Niyaas in a poem as Dhul Ma'arif (Custodian of Gnosis/Divine Sagacity).
